Step by Step Method
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

In a large bowl, cream shortening and sugar.

Add eggs and mix.

Add sour cream.

In another bowl, combine all dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture.

Mix in molasses and then pour into a greased 9 5/8-by-5 ½-by-2 ¾-inch loaf pan.

Bake in preheated oven 45 minutes or until done.
Step 8
When done, remove from oven and cool completely. Remove from pan and cut in half lengthwise to make 2 layers.

Prepare icing and spread between layers and on top.
