Step by Step Method
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Step 2
Melt butter and add molasses, sugar and eggs. Beat well.
Step 3
Sift together the flour, soda, cinnamon, ginger and cloves, then add to the butter/molasses mixture.
Step 4
Refrigerate the dough for several hours.
Step 5
Break off pieces of the dough (heaping teaspoon sized) and roll into small balls.
Step 6
Roll the balls in sugar.
Step 7
Place on an ungreased cookie sheet about 1 1/2-inches apart.
Step 8
Bake until firm and brown, about 8-10 minutes.
