"I had originally posted this elsewhere on the internet. Here's the description from that site, " I was in a hurry, and wanted something that that tasted home-made. I didn't want to spend a lot of time cooking, so I came up with this. Standing time is included in cook time. I know that this isn't real Cajun, but it's good. Now the amounts of water and cooking time will vary depending on the brand of rice you are using. Step 1

Over medium heat in a large skillet, heat oil until hot but not smoking add sausage and cook until lightly browned.

Step 2

Add 2 1/2 cups water to sausage and bring to a boil.

Step 3

Then add rice, Dirty Rice Seasoning Mix, and beans.

Step 4

Return to a boil, reduce heat, and cover.

Step 5

Simmer and stir occasionally for 20 to 25 minutes or until rice is tender.

Tips & Variations

No special items needed.


A quick and tasty way to have red beans and rice! I usually do the "long" method but this is a nice way to enjoy the flavor in a short amount of time. Served with a salad and garlic bread, Perfect!
