Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 2 tablespoons oil (vegetable oil)
  • 14 ounces smoked sausage (links, sliced thin, I used Hillshire Farms )
  • Rice mix (one 8 ounce package Dirty Rice Mix or the closest size you can find)
  • 2 1/2 cups water
  • 1 can (15 1/2 ounce) red kidney beans (drained do not rinse, if you don't have kidney beans, use pintos)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Over medium heat in a large skillet, heat oil until hot but not smoking add sausage and cook until lightly browned.

  • Step 2: Add 2 1/2 cups water to sausage and bring to a boil.

  • Step 3: Then add rice, Dirty Rice Seasoning Mix, and beans.

  • Step 4: Return to a boil, reduce heat, and cover.

  • Step 5: Simmer and stir occasionally for 20 to 25 minutes or until rice is tender.
