Step by Step Method

Step 1

In a 3 quart soup pot: Saute bacon and remove.

Step 2

Add clove to one slice onion.

Step 3

Sauté onion in 2 tablespoons bacon grease with bay leaf until soft.

Step 4

Add all other ingredients and bring to a boil; add water as needed.

Step 5

Cover and simmer for 60 minutes.

Step 6

Remove bay leaf and clove and season to taste.

Step 7

Crumble bacon on top.
