Step by Step Method

Step 1

In large covered pot, boil the ham hocks in salted boiling water for 60 minutes until soft.

Step 2

Then add the greens cover and simmer until soft.

Step 3

Drain.

Step 4

Remove bones from ham hocks chop add back with the greens.

Step 5

Season to taste.

I didn’t serve these on top of grits, but as a side to ribs. Love greens made this way and the “pot liquor” is that prize that you can’t help but eat it like soup. I did add a bit of no salt Cavender’s brand Greek seasoning as I find that it really works well in dishes like this. Southerners know their stewed greens, don’t they! Thank you, Dee, for sharing.
