Editorial Notes

The ingredient tips, suggestions, variations, facts, questions and answers below are not edits to the original author's recipe. They are not meant to imply any change would improve the recipe. They're offered for convenience, alternative ideas, and points of interest. If you have any comments about them, please post in the Help & Ideas forum.

  • When selecting prawns, look for ones that are firm and have a mild smell.
  • For the feta cheese, look for one that is creamy and crumbly.

  • Substitute the prawns with chicken: This substitution is beneficial for those who do not eat seafood or who are looking for a less expensive alternative. The chicken can be cooked in the same way as the prawns, and the flavor will still be delicious.
  • Substitute the feta cheese with mozzarella: This substitution is beneficial for those who are lactose intolerant or who are looking for a milder flavor. Mozzarella is a mild cheese that still provides a creamy texture to the dish.

Vegetarian Variation Replace the prawns with 500 grams of mushrooms, diced. Omit the feta cheese and replace with a vegan cheese alternative.

Garlic Roasted Broccoli: Garlic roasted broccoli is a great side dish to pair with this prawn and rice bake. It is simple to make and adds a delicious crunch to the meal. Roasting the broccoli in garlic oil brings out the flavors of the garlic and enhances the dish.

Lemon Roasted Potatoes: Lemon roasted potatoes are a great accompaniment to this prawn and rice bake. The potatoes are roasted in olive oil and seasoned with lemon juice, garlic, and herbs, giving them a bright and flavorful taste that complements the dish nicely. The potatoes are also a great source of fiber, adding a healthy boost to the meal.
