Step by Step Method

Step 1

Heat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Step 2

Grease and flour two 9 x 5 inch bread pans and set them aside.

Step 3

Boil the one cup of water and add it to the one cup of raisins and set them aside.

Step 4

In a large bowl, mash the pork and beans (undrained) with a potato masher. Add the sugar, eggs, oil, and vanilla, and mix well.

Step 5

In another bowl, mix together the flour, cinnamon, baking soda, and the baking powder. Add them into the bean mixture, stirring them all together.

Step 6

Drain the raisins. Fold the raisins and the nuts into the batter.

Step 7

Spoon the batter into the two bread pans.

Step 8

Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 50 to 60 minutes.

This bread is quite delicious! I just had to make it because it is so different. I used beans in tomato sauce and added a wee bit more cinnamon (because we like it).
