  • 1 cup water, boiling
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1 can (15 ounce) pork and beans
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (any kind)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Heat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

  • Step 2: Grease and flour two 9 x 5 inch bread pans and set them aside.

  • Step 3: Boil the one cup of water and add it to the one cup of raisins and set them aside.

  • Step 4: In a large bowl, mash the pork and beans (undrained) with a potato masher. Add the sugar, eggs, oil, and vanilla, and mix well.

  • Step 5: In another bowl, mix together the flour, cinnamon, baking soda, and the baking powder. Add them into the bean mixture, stirring them all together.

  • Step 6: Drain the raisins. Fold the raisins and the nuts into the batter.

  • Step 7: Spoon the batter into the two bread pans.

  • Step 8: Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 50 to 60 minutes.
