"A long-time favorite, this recipe comes from my mother, Constance Wagner. It is good served warm with cream or vanilla ice cream but it is also good cold."

Step by Step Method
Step 1
Sift together ½ cup (8 tablespoons) of flour, 1/3 cup of sugar, the baking powder, and 1/8 teaspoon of salt.
Step 2
Stir in the milk.
Step 3
Pour this batter into a well-greased small and rather deep baking dish, about 8"x8".
Step 4
Put peach slices in saucepan and add the other 1/3 cup of sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, water, the remaining 1 tablespoon of flour, and the remaining 1/8 teaspoon of salt.
Step 5
Bring to a boil, being careful not to let it stick to the bottom (stir).
Step 6
Pour boiling fruit mixture over batter in baking dish.
Step 7
Cook uncovered at 350'F. for about 1 hour or until browned on top. The batter will rise to the top.
Step 8
Serve warm with cream or ice cream.
