Step by Step Method

Step 1

Melt the butter in the milk and heat to 98 F.

Step 2

Combine sugar, salt, cardamom and yeast in a large bowl with HALF the flour (2 3/4 cups). Add the warm milk mixture and stir to combine. Cover and let rise for 45 minutes.

Step 3

Add the rest of the flour. It will make a sticky dough. DO NOT KNEAD!!! Cover and let it rise in a warm spot for another 45 minutes.

Step 4

Preheat oven to 350 F. Form the dough into small buns and place in a buttered 8x8 pan. Beat the egg. Brush over the buns. Bake for 15 minutes.

These are great! I had enough dough for two pans of pull apart rolls. The change I made was using about half white flour and half whole wheat, but they still turned out great! Thanks for sharing!
