Step 1
In heavy saucepan, whisk together dry ingredients. Whisk in milk and cook over medium heat for 2-3 minutes. Lightly whisk egg yolks, stir 1/2 cup of warmed liquid into egg yolks and whisk back into pudding mixture. Continue cooking and whisking over medium heat until mixture comes to a boil and thickens. Remove from heat and whisk in butter and extract. Pour into baked pie shell. Prepare meringue, spread over and bake in 350 oven until top is golden. Allow to cool & refrigerate any leftovers.
