Step by Step Method

Step 1

In a bowl Combine ingredients for the topping and set aside. In another Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, allspice, and nutmeg.

Step 2

Beat eggs, buttermilk, oil, and brown sugar in mixing bowl. Add dry ingredients, stirring to blend well. Stir in berries and pecans. Spread evenly in greased 9" x 13" cake pan. Sprinkle topping evenly over batter. Cover tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.

Step 3

In the morning, remove plastic wrap from cake and bake at 350°F for 45 minutes, or until toothpick inserted in centre comes out clean. Let stand 5 minutes before cutting.

My wife made this and baked it off and we indulged in a most delicious breakfast experience. She used blueberries and walnuts and they hit our sweet tooth with approval at first bite. I see this becoming a fast favorite and a pleasure to eat too!
