"It was one of those cakes everyone was making supposedly moist and good flavored its 2 cups added in recipe so do that ,and president Lincoln liked sweets this is in 9x13 they probably used two 8 inch round pans the frosting was from same period so im not adding it"

Step by Step Method
Step 1
Cream together butter and sugar.
Step 2
Beat in eggs, one at a time.
Step 3
Stir in vanilla.
Step 4
Sift together dry ingredients: flour, cream of tartar, salt, baking soda, cocoa powder.
Step 5
Add dry ingredients and water alterately to butter mixture.
Step 6
Stir in sauerkraut.
Step 7
Pour into a greased and floured 9×13 inch pan.
Step 8
Bake at 350º for 35-40 minutes.
