Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • ½ cup butter
  • 1½ cup sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tablespoons vanilla
  • 2 cups flour
  • ¼ teaspoon cream of tartar
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ cup cocoa powder
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 can (15 ounces) sauerkraut (drained, washed, minced ,i might even use food processor for this)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Cream together butter and sugar.

  • Step 2: Beat in eggs, one at a time.

  • Step 3: Stir in vanilla.

  • Step 4: Sift together dry ingredients: flour, cream of tartar, salt, baking soda, cocoa powder.

  • Step 5: Add dry ingredients and water alterately to butter mixture.

  • Step 6: Stir in sauerkraut.

  • Step 7: Pour into a greased and floured 9×13 inch pan.

  • Step 8: Bake at 350º for 35-40 minutes.
