  • When selecting shrimp, look for ones that are firm, have a mild smell, and are not slimy.
  • If using dried herbs, reduce the amount of herbs called for in the recipe by half.

  • Substitute honey for maple syrup - Maple syrup is a great substitute for honey as it is a natural sweetener and offers a subtle hint of flavor that pairs well with the lemon and basil. The benefit of this substitution is that it adds a unique flavor to the marinade that will enhance the overall taste of the dish.
  • Substitute olive oil for avocado oil - Avocado oil is a healthier alternative to olive oil and provides a milder flavor that won't overpower the other ingredients. The benefit of this substitution is that it adds a healthy fat to the marinade and helps to coat the shrimp evenly for a more flavorful and juicy end result.

I set aside some of the marinade before adding the shrimp. I served the shrimp on a rice bowl with mushrooms and spinach, dressed with the remaining marinade. A delicious and flexible dish - thanks for sharing.

Excellent marinade - The shrimp are loaded with flavour. I broiled them (I don't BBQ any more) and only for about 5 minutes each side. They were so tender they almost exploded in my mouth. I used large wild Argentine shrimp. I look forward to the next time I'll be making this recipe

These are great tasting skewers I really enjoyed, lovely combination of flavors! I made half the recipe as this was for just me and broiled them instead of grilling them. I had two skewers with rice and the other 2 skewers were tossed in a spinach salad to bring to work for lunch. These will be made often here.
