"A local restaurant features these yams and they sell out daily. This is more of a technique than a recipe. With this technique the yam and skin stay extremely moist. I usually bake several at a time and microwave for additional meals."

Original recipe yields 1 serving
OK

Step 1

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

Step 2

Scrub yam, coat with oil and wrap in foil.

Step 3

Place on baking sheet and bake 1 hour or until yam is soft like a baked potato. Baking time is going to vary depending on the size of the yam. The baking sheet is to catch any sugary yam juice that seeps out of the foil.

Step 4

Serve with topping of your choice. Butter, cinnamon, diced pecans or marshmallow fluff are all good. You can also use the baked yams for pies or casseroles.

Basic is best - easy recipe with great results. My Yam was very fat so I cut it in half, placed a sprig of oregano on it, coated each half with oil, wrapped in foil and baked 1 hour. Served it with a painting of butter. Lovely side dish. Thanks rarcgal for adding another side dish to my recipe book

Making delicious yams doesn't get any easier than this. I made four of these and I added a sprig of fresh rosemary with 2 of the yams and wow, great flavours, both with or without the rosemary were tasty. thanks so much for sharing. I will be making this quite often! Made for the Billboard Recipe Tag game.
