Step 1

Preheat grill to medium-high.

Step 2

Combine cream cheese, shredded cheese and jalapeno in a medium bowl, stirring and mashing with a fork. Divide the mixture into 4 portion and form each into a 3-inch disk. Form sirloin into 4 patties about 4 inches wide and 1/2 inch thick. Season with salt.

Step 3

Grill the burgers until almost done, 3 to 4 minutes per side. Place a cheese disk on each and continue cooking until an instant-read thermometer inserted in the thickest part of a burger registers 160°F and the cheese starts to melt, 1 to 2 minutes more. During the last few minutes, toast buns on the grill.

Step 4

Top each burger with 1 tablespoon ketchup and serve on the buns with lettuce, tomato and onion, if desired.

We loved these burgers! After making the cheese discs I had some trouble getting them onto waxed paper for cooking later, but when refrigerated hubby peeled them right off in a snap. The flavor is wonderful. We'll make these again...maybe add some bacon! Thanks Teresa. YUM. (Beach Party summer 2021)

Good burger. Loved the popper aspect of this. I got a little carried away with the cheese......forgot how much it would spread when melted. Can't wait to serve these to my grandson - the popper king. lol. Thanks for sharing, Teresa.
