Step by Step Method

Step 1

Cut the onion thin slices and cut the meat into small pieces.

Step 2

Heat the oil in a large frying pan over medium high heat and cook the onions until tender. Add the meat and sugar and cook until browned.

Step 3

Add sake, mirin, and soy sauce. Reduce the heat and simmer 5 minutes.

Step 4

Slowly drizzle the beaten egg over the beef. Cook until the egg is done. Add the green onions right before removing from the heat.

Step 5

Divide hot cooked rice between two large bowls. Divide the beef and egg on top of rice and pour desired amount of sauce over rice.

Step 6

Top with pickled red ginger.

This is packed full of yummy flavors...I think I made a mistake...I should have just drizzled the egg and not stir it in with the beef mixture...the same with the green onions...it would have made a nicer presentation...but it didn't change the flavor...I just used the pickled red ginger as garnish and didn't eat it...made for "Only the Lonely" tag game...this is going on my best of 2021 list...
