"This has quite a bit of liquid that boils down. This is a fun way to use up green tomatoes that you don't want to waste. I found this recipe on Whippoorwillholler on YouTube."

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Heat the oven to 375° Fahrenheit. Place one of the pie crusts in a non greased 9 inch pie pan.

Step 2

In a large bowl, add the next 7 ingredients and mix together. Put them in the pie pan that has the crust in it.

Step 3

Dot the 1 tablespoon of butter over the top of the pie before placing the top crust on. After placing the top crust on, tuck the edges in or crimp them together with the bottom crust, whatever your preference is. I tuck mine in because I have always tended to have a burning problem. :-( Place some vents in the crust with the tip of a knife.

Step 4

You can then sprinkle some cinnamon and sugar on top if you so choose before brushing on egg over the crust. Place the pie into the oven for 60 minutes at 375° Fahrenheit. Let it cool for a few minutes after taking it out of the oven before slicing it.

The flavor of this pie is similar to apple pie, very tasty. But there is so much liquid that the bottom crust ended very soggy. I think adding dried oats to the tomato mixture might absorb some of the liquid. Thx for sharing your recipe with us here.
