"Grandma Unrath was my mother's mother (the name is from her second marriage). Every family holiday, she would make this tossed salad, and we all used to mercilessly make fun of it. Now that she's gone, every once in a while we simply have to have some. The waiting period is mandatory...it will not taste right without it. Leftovers are good for at best a day and a half. The original calls for a head of lettuce, but I've also used the 12 oz. salad in a bag (greener selection or just lettuce) with good results."
