"In Arkansas, a rich custard pie. One recipe had 2 cups of sugar and the other one had 1 cup sugar. I'm going with 1 cup."

Step by Step Method
Step 1
Preheat oven at 425 degrees F.
Step 2
In a large bowl, mix together sugar, butter, salt and nutmeg.
Step 3
Add whole eggs and beat well.
Step 4
Stir in milk and vanilla.
Step 5
Pour mixture into a 10-inch unbaked pie shell (sprinkle a little nutmeg on top) and bake 7 minutes at 425 degrees F.
Step 6
Lower heat to 325º and bake for 20-25 minutes or until it shimmies.
Step 7
Hint: You should rub a little flour or sugar in crust before you pour filling in it.
Step 8
Bake until custard is firm 1 1/2" from outside of pan. You can test this by putting the blade of a clean knife in and if it comes out clean, it is done.
