Fixed Up Brownies
"I usually make everything from scratch, but once in a while the sale on a box of chocolate brownies will catch my eye. Then I like to fix them up with chocolate chips, a glaze and nuts. If you can, use premium dark cocoa rather than the Nestles, it makes a world of difference."

Step by Step Method
Step 1
Preheat oven and make batter as directed, then stir in chocolate chips.
Step 2
Bake as directed on the box until they reach the right consistency. I had to add a few minutes for the chocolate chips.
Step 3
Meanwhile, put butter, cocoa and buttermilk in microwave-proof bowl, but don't heat yet. Measure out powdered sugar, set out vanilla, and get a small whisk out. Chop nuts.
Step 4
4 minutes before brownies should be done, heat butter, cocoa and buttermilk in microwave to boiling (around 2 minutes). Then whisk in powdered sugar and vanilla. You don't have to get every little lump out.
Step 5
Immediately upon removing brownies, top with glaze, then walnuts.
