"An absolutely delicious dessert. And, it is super easy to make. Just a few minutes in the oven/broiler; and, your dish is done. You can easily prep this ahead too - so, just pop in the oven, finish with the yogurt, mint; and serve. And, when figs are in season, this is a wonderful dessert to enjoy. Sometimes I double this recipe; but, you can also serve this with other chilled fruits/crackers, or a cheese platter too."

Step by Step Method

Step 1

First ... you want a baking dish where you can stand all the figs up. You don't want them over crowded; however, you don't want empty space either - so they fall over or roll around. So, pick a dish that the figs fit in best. If you have small ramekins, those work great - 2-3 figs per rameken/per person.

Step 2

Figs ... Remove the stems from your figs; then, cut a cross on the top - and the fig will open up in 4 small pieces. Add the figs to a small baking dish, sprayed with a nonstick spray - standing cut side up.

Step 3

Filling ... In the center of each fig; add 1 piece of butter, 1 teaspoon of the nuts, sprinkle with cinnamon, and top with honey. This can be prepared ahead of time if necessary. Just cover tightly with plastic wrap.

Step 4

Broil ... For 5-8 minutes until the figs are tender; and the butter and honey are melted.

Step 5

Finish ... Serve 2-3 figs per person; and, make sure to pour any sauce in the bottom of the dish over the figs. Garnish with yogurt, extra fine chopped nuts, and mint. This is also great served along side a fruit and cheese platter; and, dessert wine. It's a simple light, but satisfying dessert. ENJOY!
