Step by Step Method

Step 1

Heat waffle iron and spray with cooking spray.

Step 2

In a mixing bowl, sift together flour, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and salt. Sift 3 times

Step 3

In another mixing bowl, combine eggs, buttermilk, and molasses. Mix in melted butter.

Step 4

Add dry ingredients with wet ingredients just until moistened and lump free.

Step 5

Pour 1/3 cup batter in hot waffle iron. Cook until crisp and golden brown. Set aside.

Step 6

Repeat with remaining batter, spraying with cooking spray every time

Step 7

Garnish with butter and whipped cream

These came out better than I had expected. They're sensational and as another reviewer said, they do have all those warm flavors associated with Christmas. The only thing I did different was increase the cinnamon, as is my style. These are now at the top list of favorite waffles for us and I'm sliding it right into my Best Of file. Yum! These waffle are are so flavorful , we really loved the gingerbread spices. I cut the recipe in half which made 2 - 4 square waffles. I reduced the brown sugar by 2 Tbls which made them just the right amount of sweetness. Made for SWT 2019
