  • 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • FOR GARNISH
  • 1 cup whipped cream
  • 4 tablespoons butter

How to Make

  • Step 1: Heat waffle iron and spray with cooking spray.

  • Step 2: In a mixing bowl, sift together flour, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and salt. Sift 3 times

  • Step 3: In another mixing bowl, combine eggs, buttermilk, and molasses. Mix in melted butter.

  • Step 4: Add dry ingredients with wet ingredients just until moistened and lump free.

  • Step 5: Pour 1/3 cup batter in hot waffle iron. Cook until crisp and golden brown. Set aside.

  • Step 6: Repeat with remaining batter, spraying with cooking spray every time

  • Step 7: Garnish with butter and whipped cream
