Step by Step Method

Step 1

Mix the salt and pepper with the mushrooms in a bowl. Add the steak, covering the whole surface with the mixture.

Step 2

Add the oil and butter to a cast iron pan on medium heat. Cook the steak. Both sides should be cooked to a deep brown color. Approximately six minutes on each side will be medium well. Place the steak on a plate to rest it when you're done cooking it.

Step 3

Next, place the shallots in the pan and cook for about two minutes to soften them. Place them on the steak before serving it.

Very good steaks! Made as directed, except used way less than 113 gr of mushrooms. I used 4 small shitake's, that weighed in total about 15 grams and had leftover powder. I loved the flavor that the mushrooms added to the crust of the steaks. We'll definitely do these again! Thanks for sharing!

We love steak, but had never used dry mushrooms to coat. Followed all as directed, except that substituted red onion for the shallots because that’s what I had on hand. We really enjoyed steaks made this way. Thank you, WAIGEN, for sharing. Made it for FYC.

Great steak! I had 4 steaks I got in the sale bin, so I put the mushroom mixture on a few hours early and we had great steaks! Made as directed, using the amounts listed, with wonderful results. Served with baked potatoes and tossed salad. Thanks for sharing!
