Step by Step Method
Step 1
Mix the salt and pepper with the mushrooms in a bowl. Add the steak, covering the whole surface with the mixture.
Step 2
Add the oil and butter to a cast iron pan on medium heat. Cook the steak. Both sides should be cooked to a deep brown color. Approximately six minutes on each side will be medium well. Place the steak on a plate to rest it when you're done cooking it.
Step 3
Next, place the shallots in the pan and cook for about two minutes to soften them. Place them on the steak before serving it.
