"This is how I like my hash browns, they are made with Hungry Jack's dehydrated potatoes and are relatively cheap to make, easy too. The package says 7 servings but, no. You can use just regular oil but the bacon grease puts them over the top. You can use American cheese but I prefer cheddar. The potatoes are shelf stable and good to have at the end of the month and in pantry for emergencies."

Step by Step Method
Step 1
Fill the potato package with warm water about 30 minutes before you want to cook them.
Step 2
After that drain really well.
Step 3
Heat the bacon grease.
Step 4
Add the potatoes in an even layer.
Step 5
Sprinkle on seasonings to taste.
Step 6
Sprinkle on onions, cover for 5 minutes on a simmer.
Step 7
Check to see if bottom is brown not burnt.
Step 8
Flip over and brown other side.
Step 9
Last couple minutes layer cheese over the top and allow to melt.
