Step by Step Method
Step 1
Sort beans and soak overnight.
Step 2
Drain and rinse beans in the morning.
Step 3
Combine in slow cooker with ham, onion powder, and garlic powder.
Step 4
Top with enough water to cover beans.
Step 5
Cook on low approximately nine hours, or on high four and a half hours or until beans are tender.
Step 6
Add water as needed.
Step 7
Season to taste.
Step 8
Top each serving with a tablespoon of pickle relish and a tablespoon of chopped raw onion.
