Step by Step Method

Step 1

Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl; mix well and add raisins.

Step 2

Beat eggs in a smaller bowl.

Step 3

Add buttermilk to eggs and beat until combined.

Step 4

Add egg mixture to butter and dry ingredients.

Step 5

Stir until moistened.

Step 6

Pour into greased layer cake pan or pie pan. (Dough will be very thick and dense).

Step 7

Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 1 hour. check at 45 minutes

Easy and delicious! For some reason, I didn't expect it to be a sweet bread, but am glad I made this (and will make it again!). It has a great texture, and is also very pretty when baked. I used a 10 inch pie pan. Delicious slathered with some creamy and sweet Irish butter. Thanks for sharing, Mike!

Wonderful bread and it is a pretty bread too. Made as directed without any problems. We used a 9 inch round cake pan and it rose beautifully high. Thanks for sharing!
