Step by Step Method

Step 1

Cut doughnuts in half horizontally.

Step 2

Place eggs, milk, sugar and vanilla in a large jug and whisk until combined and then pour into a large shallow dish.

Step 3

Place half the doughnuts into egg mixture and stand for 30 seconds and then turn over and repeat until soaked and drain off excess and transfer to a plat and repeat with remaining egg mixture and doughnuts.

Step 4

Melt half the butter and oil in a large, non-stick frying pan over a medium heat until butter starts to foam and then add half the doughnuts and cook for 2 minutes, turn over and cook for a further 2 minutes, or until golden brown.

Step 5

Wipe pan clean with absorbent kitchen paper and repeat cooking with remaining butter, oil and doughnuts.

Step 6

Serve warm French toast with maple syrup and peaches
