"I have been making Chocolate Roll Dainty for many years, imagine my surprise to find the original handwritten recipe while going through old cookbooks and find the delightful chocolatey little roll is in actuality 'Fudgy Chocolate Cherry Roll' By either name a great addition to any serving tray and a given at our house at holiday time. We love the colourful slices that not only add that festive look but taste as good as they look. I double the recipe at holiday time."

Step by Step Method
Step 1
In a pot over low heat, melt the chocolate and butter
Step 2
In a small bowl beat the egg slightly( whisking in a little of the hot chocolate mixture to the egg eases the blending) carefully whisk into the above mixture until nicely blended
Step 3
Remove from heat, add the graham crumbs
Step 4
Allow mixture to cool before folding in the marshmallows, walnuts, and cherries.You don't want to be melting the marshmallows
Step 5
Shape into a roll on wax paper, roll into the size you wish, making a nice smooth round roll shaped like a sausage
Step 6
For variety I like to roll in flaked coconut or finely chopped nuts which gives it an extra special look. Chill in refrigerator until set, best overnight. Slice and serve

NOTE: I like to roll the log in either flaked coconut or finely chopped nuts
