"This recipe is from Australian Pears. I made this a few years back and the family loved it. You can serve it just as a loaf bread or as a warm dessert with cream or ice cream. Either way this looks simply stunning to serve. The original recipe gave a tip... which I did use, it stated that they used Betty Crocker Devil's Food Cake mix. Makes 1 loaf"

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 180°C.

Step 2

Grease and line a 27cm x 11.5cm x 6.5cm deep (base measurement or 8 cup capacity) loaf pan with baking paper.

Step 3

Prepare cake mix as per packet instructions. Spoon 1/3 of cake batter into the base of prepared loaf pan. Stand pears in cake batter and then spoon remaining cake batter around and over pears until covered

Step 4

Bake the loaf for 50-60 minutes or until cooked through when tested in the center with a skewer.

Step 5

Remove loaf and stand for 10 minutes before transferred loaf to a wire rack to cool.

Step 6

Dust with icing sugar and serve on its own cold or with cream or ice cream whilst warm.
