"There`s different versions of Chess pie -- chocolate chess, maple chess, buttermilk chess, and there all good, but there is nothing as wonderful as a simple basic chess pie. You could serve with whipped cream on top but it`s really not necessary."

Step by Step Method
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
Step 2
Mix together the butter, sugar, and vanilla. Mix in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the cornmeal, milk, and vinegar.
Step 3
Pour the mixture into the pie shell and bake 15 minutes.
Step 4
Reduce oven temperature to 300 degrees. Bake 45 minutes.
Step 5
Let the pie cool, but it is best when served at room temperature or just barely still warm.
Step 6
If desired, pie may be served with whipped cream.
