Step 2: Mix together the butter, sugar, and vanilla. Mix in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the cornmeal, milk, and vinegar.
Step 3: Pour the mixture into the pie shell and bake 15 minutes.
Step 4: Reduce oven temperature to 300 degrees. Bake 45 minutes.
Step 5: Let the pie cool, but it is best when served at room temperature or just barely still warm.
Step 6: If desired, pie may be served with whipped cream.
