Step by Step Method

Step 1

Mix brown sugar, Karo and water in small, heavy saucepan and bring to a boil over medium heat until candy thermometer reads 242 degrees.

Step 2

Meanwhile, beat egg whites in small bowl until stiff peaks form.

Step 3

Drizzle hot syrup very slowly in a thin stream into egg whites, beating continually on medium speed.

Step 4

Add vanilla, then beat on high until stiff peaks form again.

Step 5

Frost cake immediately.
