Step by Step Method

Step 1

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

Step 2

Combine crust ingredients (flour - 1/3 cup sugar) in a small bowl of an electric mixer and beat on low until mixture resembles coarse meal (this can also be done in a food processor if desired)

Step 3

Press dough into the bottom of an 8 inch square pan. Bake for 10-15 minutes or until edges are light brown. Remove from oven but keep oven on at 375.

Step 4

In a small bowl of an electric mixer combine filling ingredients (2/3 cup sugar - salt) and beat for 1-2 minutes or until blended.

Step 5

Pour filling over crust and arrange pecan squares over the filling.

Step 6

Bake for 15-20 minutes or until filling is set.

Step 7

Cool completely before cutting into 1 1/2 inch bars.

I enjoyed making this square! It was fast and easy. Baked it in my counter top oven which I use quite frequently instead of heating up the stove oven. The filling was perfectly set and the pecans looked so pretty laid on top. Thank you for sharing Ellie! Made for Billboard Recipe Tag.

Kerfuffle-Upon-Wincle (KUW)

Really good ~ and easy! I used a pastry blender to combine the crust ingredients. I like the honey in this. The flavor reminds me of the pecan pies that Honey Baked Ham sells.
