Step by Step Method

Step 1

Preheat oven to 375°. Arrange bacon in a single layer on a wire rack in an aluminum foil-lined broiler pan. Bake at 375° for 10 minutes or just until bacon begins to curl at ends.

Step 2

While bacon cooks, combine brown sugar and bourbon in a small bowl, stirring until the sugar dissolves.

Step 3

Remove the bacon from oven. Brush both sides of bacon with brown sugar mixture. Bake at 375° for 42 more minutes or until bacon is crisp around edges and browned, brushing both sides of bacon with brown sugar mixture every 10 minutes.

NOTE: the original recipe said 42 minutes, but I think this might burn if cooked that long. Watch carefully so it doesn't burn! The bacon won't be crisp until it cools.

Step 4

Cool completely on a wire rack (about 30 minutes). Bacon will become crisp as it cools.

My DH really enjoyed this bacon. The glaze made the bacon meaty flavored instead of fatty. He really liked the sweetness combined with the bacon. I watched the time carefully. Thirty minutes seemed to be the right amount of time to me. We will be making this again.

My family LOVED this style of bacon and we all agreed that it would be wonderful topped over a juicy burger, along with some red onion, etc., YUM! Watching to make sure the bacon doesn’t burn is essential as it can go from “looks done” to “oops”. It does indeed crisp up after it has cooled a bit, but oh boy, is it tasty, tasty! Thank you, Lori, for sharing! Made it for Seaside Brasserie – 2020.

Wow!!! are these good...I could have eaten the whole batch...I did cut the recipe in half...and I shared with the hubby on one of our appy nights...in step 3 I only cooked the bacon for 15 minutes...I did brush more of the sugar mixture after 10 minutes and knew it was getting close to being done...make sure and turn the bacon strips after taking out of the oven to prevent them from sticking to the wire rack while cooling...made for Seaside Brasserie...Summer Fun at FFF...
