Step by Step Method
Step 1
Place water, onion and ham hocks on to boil.
Step 2
Simmer on high for 2 hours until the water is smokey.
Step 3
Add the carrots and potatoes.
Step 4
Add seasonings and herbs.
Step 5
Simmer on low for 45 minutes more.
Step 6
Take out ham and shred meat.
Step 7
Add just meat back in before you add sour cream.
Step 8
Add flour to the sour cream and put in soup swirling around.
Step 9
Let thicken.
Step 10
Last 5 minutes add horseradish and cream, don't boil just heat.
Step 11
Season to taste, add more horseradish if needed.
