Step 1

Combine the flour, salt and pepper.

Step 2

Add beef and toss to coat.

Step 3

In a Dutch oven

Step 4

Brown the beef in bacon grease in batches

Add all meat back in

Step 6

Add the onions, garlic, dill, caraway, paprika

Step 7

Cook until onions softened

Step 8

Add water.

Step 9

Cover and simmer for 2 hours or until meat is tender, adding water as needed stirring every 15 minutes

Step 10

Stirring occasionally.

Step 11

Stir in sour cream with a tablespoon of the flour mixed in

Step 12

Heat through but do not boil.

Step 13

Heat sauerkraut

Step 14

Drain and spoon onto a serving platter. Top with the beef mixture.

Step 15

Sprinkle with paprika and green onions.

This was an interesting change from our usual. I didn't have any bacon grease so used butter but otherwise made as directed. Served with whole wheat scones and cheese. Nice simple dinner. Thanks for sharing!
