"Submitted to Taste of Home by Evelyn Slade, this is a creamy, yet lower-fat take on a classic pasta dish. I added in freshly ground black pepper, and it is everything you expect in an Alfredo dish. Quick, too - this would make a great weeknight dinner."

Step 1

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook pasta according to the package directions.

Step 2

Build the roux base: In a large saucepan, melt the butter. Whisk in the flour until it is fully incorporated. Slowly whisk in the half and half. Bring to a boil over medium heat - this will not take long at all; do not walk away! Cook and stir for about 1 minutes or the sauce thickens up. Drain the fettuccine and toss the pasta into the pan. Tongs work great for this! Add in the shrimp, cheese, salt and pepper, tossing everything until it's fully coated and the cheese is melted. Divide into bowls and top with the fresh parsley.

It really doesn't get much better than this awesome pasta! I didn't add the salt and we just used a little shake at the table. Creamy, great cheesy flavor, and those shrimp are the perfect addition for plenty of protein. I sincerely love the recipes I have tried here!

Total winner at our house! I doubled the sauce so to have plenty to use to dip our bread sticks in at serving time. So yummy.

I scaled back for one serve and a very delicious and generous serve it was. My prawns/shrimp were raw so I gave them a very light cook first and finished them of in the sauce and very much enjoyed a delicious dinner. Thank you Misa made for Alphabet Tag Game at FF&F.

I liked the idea that this is lower in fat. I like even more that it tastes good too! It was ready in less than a half hour, another plus. Winner winner, pasta dinner!

What a delicious lunch this made for us. Loaded with cheesy goodness just like I was hoping for! I made a cucumber, tomato and onion salad with creamy Italian dressing and crescent rolls to round out the meal. This will see many repeats! It would be just as good with chicken too.
