Excellent spice mix! I only made a quarter of the recipe, because I didn't think I could use the whole thing within 6 months - but in retrospect should have only cut it in half as I think we'll be using this a lot! It is a bit spicy (I went a bit heavy on the cayenne), so in the future I'll stick to the original proportions! I love that it uses ingredients that are always in my spice cabinet! Made for CQ4 play, Team Happy Campers. Thanks for posting!

My husband and I both loved this on some grilled pork chops. This morning I used it on some firfir and eggs. It is a very tasty spice mix and not hot so it is perfect.

I'm exploring many Ethiopian recipes and needed a good homemade Berbere blend (since I can't find it at any of my local grocery stores), and I chose this one because I had all the ingredients on hand. I reduced it just a bit because I was low on paprika, so I adjusted everything else accordingly. It was a super spice blend, I think all the ingredients are well portioned and I wouldn't change any of the spices/herb amounts if I need to make a second batch of Berbere. I'm glad I gave this recipe a try. Now I'll be able to use it to make a variety of Ethiopian recipes. Thanks, breezermom. Your recipe came in handy.
