"Forget that box of Hamburger Helper, this dish made in one skillet in around 30 minutes, and SO GOOD! This makes 4 small servings or 3 larger servings, or for guys with large appetites, makes 2 servings, what I`m saying is that it does not make a huge amount :)"

Original is 4 servings

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Heat olive oil in a large skillet add ground beef and cook until beef it has browned (about 10 minutes) Drain fat, add in mushrooms and next 5 spices stir and cook another about 8 minutes.

Step 2

Stir in tomato paste until it's combined, then mix in flour. Stir in the beef flavored water and Dijon mustard; bring to a simmer then add dry noodles. Bring back to a simmer, partially covered (do not cover completely you want the broth to reduce). Simmer until noodles are cooked through, about 20-25 minutes (the broth should reduce) stirring frequently. Halfway through cooking, mix in the heavy cream.

Step 3

Stir in sour cream until well combined (start with 1/3 cup adding in more to your taste).

Step 4

Serve immediately, garnished with parsley.

Tips

  • Large skillet

Comfort food for sure. I only used 10% cream (Coffee Cream) and it was fine. I used wide noodles so had to add additional broth because as said they do take longer to cook. Everythng came together and I loved my dinner.

Another five star recipe from Kittencal! My hubby loves mushroom and beef stroganoff so I knew this would be a nice meal for him. I used baby portabella mushrooms, beef broth so I omitted the teaspoon of salt, and added a tad more sour cream. Had a small plate for myself and he finished up the rest! A nice change from beef stroganoff or beef and noodle type dishes. Thank you honey for sharing!! Made and reviewed for the Pick Me! Recipe Tag Game.
