Step by Step Method

Step 1

Preheat the oven to a moderate heat.

Step 2

Grease and line a 20cm x 12cm loaf pan, with baking paper.

Step 3

Beat butter and sugar together until creamy. Add orange zest with one of the eggs and beat until smooth. Add remaining egg and beat to a smooth batter.

Step 4

Fold in the dates, bananas, flour, orange juice and walnuts and fold in well.

Step 5

Spoon the batter into prepared loaf pan and bake for about 45 minutes or until cooked when tested with a skewer.

Step 6

Cool loaf in pan for about 5 minutes, then turn out to a rack to cool completely.

Great banana bread. We skipped the walnuts but otherwise made as directed. I cooked the bread at 350 degrees F but it probably should have cooked for 55-60 minutes at that temperature. Thanks for sharing!
