"A holiday dish with a nice orange flavor. Goes good with turkey or pork. You can use less nutmeg if desired. Also good with some chopped pecans sprinkled on top."

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Step 2

Coat a baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.

Step 3

Peel yam with a potato peeler. Slice yam into 1/4-inch slices.

Step 4

Melt 1 stick of butter and pour into baking dish. Arrange yam slices in baking dish.

Step 5

Dot yam slices with remaining 1/2 stick butter.

Step 6

Mix orange juice and Grand Marnier together and pour over yam slices.

Step 7

Sprinkle with nutmeg and orange zest. Cover dish tightly with foil.

Step 8

Bake until fork tender, about 45 minutes.

Step 9

Place yam slices on serving plate and garnish with orange slices and fresh parsley.

I doubled the recipe and used 4 regular sized sweet potatoes. I did add a tad more of each spice too to compensate for more potatoes. We really loved them with the rest of our Thanksgiving dinner and we will have them again at Christmas!

I made this recipe using 2 large sweet potatoes (No yams to be found this time of year) and followed recipe accordingly except for not using the garnish. Wow, I am really impressed with this, the flavour is amazing!!! This will be seeing many repeats here.
