Step 1

Combine all ingredients in large saucepan. Stir well.

Step 2

Over medium heat, bring to boil. Reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 60 minutes. Stir occasionally as it cooks.

Step 3

Store in refrigerator.

Keeps for several weeks.

VARIATIONS


Step 5

Sweet and Tangy - Use the original recipe described above.

Step 6

Smoky - Add 1/2 teaspoon liquid smoke per 1 cup of sauce.

Step 7

Spicy - Add 1/4-1 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper per 1 cup of sauce (according to how much heat you want).

Step 8

Very spicy with a hint of smoke - For each 1 cup of sauce, add 1 teaspoon cayenne and 1/4 teaspoon liquid smoke.

This recipe is suitable for water-process canning as long as you don't decrease the ratio of vinegar to other ingredients.

Step 10

Ladle hot sauce into hot jars leaving 1/4" head space.

Step 11

Process half and full pints, for 20 minutes, in boiling water canner.

Looked for a bbq sauce to use on some baby back ribs. This one worked great! Delicious ribs made the sweet way. Will be trying on other meats and trying the variations at another time. Such a great find!

This sauce has great flavor! So far I have used it on chicken and St Louis ribs on my grill with great results. I made sweet for the chicken and then added liquid smoke for the ribs. Both full of flavor and delicious! No more store bought for me now. I am hooked!

I made half original for chicken and half smoky for ribs and wings. Both are super delicious! I will be canning some to keep handy for weekly use.

My sister, mom and I had dinner together and had some chicken to cook up. I chose the smoky version of the sauces to try out. It had excellent flavor and really contributed to the overall great flavor of the chicken. We think it's a hit so I will try the other options since I had such great results with the smoky version.

I made ribs using the smoky option and the ribs were lip smacking good! I added your recipe for 14 Spice Dry Rub Mix For Beef, Chicken Or Pork on the meat before grilling and the two together were delicious! I will use them both often!
