Step by Step Method
Step 1
In large stock pot, heat the margarine (they said butter substitute or pork fat, lard and bacon grease)
Step 2
Add onions and cook until translucent.
Step 3
Add potatoes and cook until tender.
Step 4
Add seasoning to taste.
Step 5
Add milk and simmer until potatoes are tender and add rest of veggies mixing baking soda into the tomatoes.
Step 6
Simmer for 20 minutes.
Step 7
Make a slurry with corn starch and water, add to soup and simmer until thickened.
Step 8
Season to taste.
