Step 1: In large stock pot, heat the margarine (they said butter substitute or pork fat, lard and bacon grease)
Step 2: Add onions and cook until translucent.
Step 3: Add potatoes and cook until tender.
Step 4: Add seasoning to taste.
Step 5: Add milk and simmer until potatoes are tender and add rest of veggies mixing baking soda into the tomatoes.
Step 6: Simmer for 20 minutes.
Step 7: Make a slurry with corn starch and water, add to soup and simmer until thickened.
Step 8: Season to taste.
