Step by Step Method
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F

Grease 9 inch square pan with one tablespoon of butter, Pam spray it

Set it aside.

Make the egg custard
Step 5
Pour lukewarm milk into a large bowl, add melted butter, granulated sugar, and eggs.

Whisk until combined.
Step 7
Peel and core the apples, slice them thinly.
Step 8
Soak 4 pieces of white bread in the egg custard. Then, lay on bottom of pan

Cover the bread layer with sliced apples.
Step 10
Sprinkle apples with granulated sugar, salt,cinnamon, and raisins.

For the top layer, soak 4 more slices of the white bread in the egg custard and place them over apples.
Step 12
If you have any egg custard left, drizzle it on the top of the žemlovka.
Step 13
Bake for 40 minutes until the surface is golden and crispy.
Step 14
Allow the žemlovka to rest for 15 minutes before serving
