Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F
Step 2: Grease 9 inch square pan with one tablespoon of butter, Pam spray it
Step 3: Set it aside.
Step 4: Make the egg custard
Step 5: Pour lukewarm milk into a large bowl, add melted butter, granulated sugar, and eggs.
Step 6: Whisk until combined.
Step 7: Peel and core the apples, slice them thinly.
Step 8: Soak 4 pieces of white bread in the egg custard. Then, lay on bottom of pan
Step 9: Cover the bread layer with sliced apples.
Step 10: Sprinkle apples with granulated sugar, salt,cinnamon, and raisins.
Step 11: For the top layer, soak 4 more slices of the white bread in the egg custard and place them over apples.
Step 12: If you have any egg custard left, drizzle it on the top of the žemlovka.
Step 13: Bake for 40 minutes until the surface is golden and crispy.
Step 14: Allow the žemlovka to rest for 15 minutes before serving
